Expect a huge shift in 2018. It’s going to be a season of suddenlies – job promotions, increased favor in all spheres and new mantles available. It’s a year of breakthrough! A breaker anointing will be imparted to those who walk under open heavens, the Leviathan, sneaky squid and Jezebel spirits will disperse as a new breed of small gods usher in the kingdom. Lookout for signs such as roadrunners catching lizards, double yolk eggs and of course the reading on your odometer will reveal key numbers crucial to your destiny. A fresh outpouring and unstoppable revival will fill stadiums and cause whole nations to become Christians.
This is the kind of garbage that dupes millions of itching ears in the visible church. This “Christian” version of a horoscope is repeated year after year, as the word of God is sidelined and carnal natures are appeased. Of course, nothing really changes within the visible church, apart from increasing deception and apostasy. The good news is that we do indeed have a prophetic word but it is not from Shawn Bolz, Patricia King, Bill Johnson, Kris Vallotton, Lance Wallnau, Jennifer LeClaire, Cindy Jacobs, Heidi Baker, Rick Joyner, Jonathan Cahn or any other New Apostolic Reformation false prophet. This prophetic word is accurate and quite a long read. It is from God, it’s infallible, trustworthy and it’s the only prophetic word you really need. It is called scripture. The reason why it’s “not working” or “not sufficient” for many is two fold:
- Eisegesis – reading one’s own view into the text. This is how NAR/WOF and prosperity teachers are able to deceive their hearers. Expository teaching or teaching that actually explains the context and proper meaning of a text is rare. Many believers are ignorant of what the word of God actually teaches. When scripture does feature in a meeting, chances are it’s being quoted from a perversion such as “The Passion” translation. The original words are literally lost in translation. The context is ignored as proof texts are employed to substantiate the false doctrine being taught. Eisegesis and narcigesis are the order of the day, and the dumbing down of the sheep has produced a generation of biblically illiterate believers, tossed to and fro by every wind of teaching. The result is that those subjected to poor teaching cannot even compare what is being taught to the word of God, because they don’t actually know what the word of God teaches on a certain subject. It’s not the word of God that’s ineffective, it’s the pastor who is failing to teach the word of God and the individual who is simply too lazy to read and study the word of God.
- Encounters supersede the truth of God’s word. The angel of light is having a field day, as many in the visible church chase after experiences and encounters. There are no boundaries. A pragmatic approach has led to an occult invasion in churches such as Bethel. Omens, kundalini manifestations and visualization techniques have replaced the operation of the Holy Spirit. Any spirit will do; if it brings results or helps with accurate “readings” it is welcomed. The gospel is not being taught, and it’s the gospel that is the “power of God for salvation. This addiction to experiences and extra biblical revelations has trampled the word of God underfoot, and grieved the Holy Spirit. There is an assault on scripture, and the perpetrators are on stages, behind pulpits, widely recognized by the deceived as God’s anointed.
“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4
What should we expect from 2018? It really does not matter, because we know what we can expect from God. We also know what He expects from us. We have a Heavenly Father who will never leave or forsake us, and who is working within us to “will and to work for his good pleasure.” We have a Father who will discipline us for our own good if needs be, and a Father who will help us in any trial or tribulation that we encounter. We have a Father who has supplied us with all we need to serve Him. In all circumstances, he will be comforting us and conforming us into the image of his Son. Our job is to surrender, die to self and love and obey him. Trust him with your future, and run from false prophets who prophesy from their own deceitful hearts and vain imaginations.
“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”—yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” James 4:13-17
